AboutThe UPprentice is a team competition that has been developed by The Urquhart Partnership and the Acumen Group to raise funds for the locally based cancer charity, CLAN.
Our target was to raise a minimum of £12,500 to go towards the CLAN 123 campaign, which was launched to raise money to build larger premises to enable CLAN to keep up with demand for the valuable services it provides.
The ConceptThe concept behind The UPprentice is very simple. • Teams made up of between four and ten UPprentices enter at a cost of £75 per person • Each team will be given £100 of their entry fee back in cash • The challenge is to use the £100 to make as much profit as possible over a six week period • The remainder of the entry money pays for a celebratory “end of task” awards dinner for all the UPprentices • All funds raised will be donated to the CLAN 123 Campaign
The Mission.......should you choose to accept it, is that each team will need to stretch its creative and business skills to the full, come up with the best business and fundraising ideas and raise as much profit as possible for CLAN. The bottom line is – can your team beat the competition and make the most profit?
Each team will appoint a team leader who will be the main point of contact with The UPprentice "Boardroom" during the challenge. The team leader will be invited to attend the launch event at CLAN House from 6pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday 29th of September 2009 where they will be fully briefed on the challenge that awaits.
Throughout the task, trusted business advisers from The Urquhart Partnership and the Acumen Group will be keeping a watchful eye on your progress. You will be required to “report back the boardroom” every fortnight by emailing us an update on your progress and any news or photographs you may want to share. Whatever you do, you better not make a loss. A grilling from Sir Alan is tame compared to the roasting you'll get from us...
At the end of the task, each team’s performance will be judged by an independent panel consisting of:
* Debbie Thomson, Chief Executive, CLAN * Susan Crighton, Fundraising Manager, CLAN * Lavinia Carr, Lavinia Carr Corporate Communications / CLAN Board Member * Rita Stephen, ACSEF / CLAN Patron * Derek Golder, CLAN Patron
Awards include: •Best Business Plan and Reporting • Best Photograph • Best Media coverage • Best individual contribution by a team member • CAlan Sugar award for the Sweetest Profit made by a team
The winners will be announced at an awards dinner held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on the evening of Thursday the 26th of November 2009. There will be several prizes but of course the ultimate, worthy winner, will be the CLAN 123 campaign. Even if you don’t win a prize, we are sure that taking part will be a fun challenge and a great team building experience. |
